New Merit Badge!

Posted on Jul 8 2010 - 4:08pm

The Boy Scouts of America has teamed up with MIT’s Lemelson program, founded by the father of modern invention in America, Jerome H. Lemelson, to provide a new merit badge: that of invention.

Aside from defining what patent infringement and intellectual property is, there’s the practical aspect, where scouts are expected to build a clay model and then a working prototype of their invention.

Requirements will be posted when they are available

Happy Birthday to Troop 1 Scoutmaster, Ron Hart.

Summer Camp Is Almost Here!!

Posted on Jun 8 2010 - 1:11am

Many thanks to Nan Dickerson for volunteering to pull the Troop Trailer to Camp Hale again this year!! :-)

We will be meeting at Whiteside Park (41st and Pittsburg) to load the Troop Trailer on Sunday, June 13th at 9:00am and the Trailer will be departing Whiteside at 10:00am. Check in at Hale begins at 1:00pm. Gear not in the Troop Trailer will have to be unloaded at Camp Hale's parking lot and loaded onto a camp vehicle before being taken to the campsite. Nan Dickerson and Bob Beers will be getting parking passes for their vehicles; all other vehicles will need to be parked in the Camp Hale parking lot, not our campsite.

There will be a Troop Meeting in the Cheyenne Campsite at 4:00pm Sunday. Camp T-shirts and Merit Badge class schedules will be handed out at that time.

Checkout is on Saturday, June 19th and begins at 7:30am. Scouts are not clear to leave Camp until we have been given the OK from Hale staff.  Hopefully, we will be checked out and ready to go by 8:30.

A map to Hale Scout Reservation can be found HERE

If you have a medical form that you haven't given a copy of to me or Dr Wenger, please bring it Sunday morning. If you have not paid yet, you may either pay on the website ("Online Payments" on the main menu) or bring a check Sunday morning. Scouts need to have money to pay for any additional charges for Merit Badge Classes and for spending money.

Included is the swimmer list, if there are any errors, please let me know before we leave Sunday or be prepared to re-take the swim test.

If you are sending a Care Package or Letter to your Scout at Camp Hale please be sure to send any packages early enough to arrive while we are still at camp. If you wish to have the package delivered on a certain day (assuming it arrives early) please note this on the package.
